It was 7:20 on a frigid winter morning. My mom was driving me to school, and we shook in the 42-degree weather. As I stared out of the fogged-up window, I noticed a pathetic sight. A homeless man shivered on a bench, without proper clothing to protect him from the cold. We had passed him in an instant, but the vision was branded into my mind. These people were unable to even gain enough resources to protect against the cold!
This problem kept revolving in my mind. Pressed to find a solution, I pondered the options. There are many people with enough money to support these homeless, but with limited options in helping them. Then, it struck me! I could create a website to connect them directly with donors to receive help! This project would aim to create a website that can connect donors with people struggling in poverty, hunger, or homelessness through a request-and-answer system. Any donors have an easy platform through which they can donate, and the needy could request and gain any materials they need, from blankets to articles of clothing to sanitation items. I could survey people to gain information on the best format for my website. A common platform like this will most likely lead to an increase in the situations of the homeless and poverty-stricken and lower homelessness and poverty rates.
